"Ice Quad" - The above four "fantasy ice" shots were taken in the vicinity of Big Cottonwood Canyon, n. Utah. Ice growth in that year was extraordinary.
Note: The following three ice climbing photographs were taken by the blog host in his distant youth. Location: Stairway to Heaven, Bridal Veil Falls - American Fork, Utah. - ed.

"Two ice fledglings" - Attempting their first rung of the ice ladder.

"Ice in your face, buddy"

"Human Ant Scaling the Frosty Blue"

"Emeralds in the Snow" - Giant green broken icicles in the snow, created by absorption of copper from the rocks from which the icicles were formed.

"Ice Quad" - Aqua, frosty blue, ice cold teal, and frigid white gave this ice climber quite a fright, hoping he'll scale the pinnacles and make it home that night. Like poet Robert Frost, he had miles to go before he would sleep.

This ice man thinketh that he is an island unto himself, but in reality he is man against a cascade of water frozen in time.

Two intrepid climbers chipping their way to the top, pitted against this icy monolith. What shall be their fate? Shall they conquer the summit, or be absorbed by this stone cold glacier?

"Ice Octopus" - Giant iceberg with green tentacles floating on a sea of blue.

"Man at the End of the Tunnel" - Man vs. Ice; don't wander too far. You may end up frozen in time.
